Civil Defence Scotland is a voluntary uniformed organisation operating across the whole of Scotland, to provide teams of trained volunteers in a resilience / emergency response capacity in preparation and during times of crisis. We will also assist as requested during the recovery phase of any operation. Also as part of our community engagement, we will assist local / community organisations at their events, by providing services such as first aid, marshalling and communications management.
Anyone over the age of 18 can join CDS. However, please be aware that due to the nature of our work, all members are required to be able to pass enhanced vetting status through the PVG membership scheme. Anyone undertaking the role as security will be required to hold the relevant qualification and SIA issued License.
There is different levels of training depending on roles, but can include the following:
First Aid – basic to advanced
Communications – VHF, UHF, PMR, phoenetic alphabet
